Uvedené chceme dosiahnuť vypracovaním komunikačnej a advokačnej stratégie, sieťovaním s relevantnými aktérmi a zapojením PR expertov. Projektové aktivity sú zamerané na médiá, politikov a iných tvorcov verejných politík, akademikov, právnych expertov, reprezentantov migrantských komunít a verejnosť.
Trvanie projektu je od januára do decembra 2016. Projekt finančne podporil: Open Society Foundations Think Tank.
More detailed information about the project in English:
The overall purpose of the project "Refugee Friendly Slovakia" is the change of political and public opinion in a way more positive towards the acceptance of refugees and diversity in the society. Project objectives include also minimizing hatred, fear and islamophobia, which are spreading amongst society; mitigating stereotypes and anti-immigration, racist and discriminatory moods of the majority population; bringing more balanced information to the media and to stakeholders explaining the benefits of the migration and reasons of forced migration; and fighting the myth of the “security risk” refugees represent for the State and its citizens. Another specific objective is an effort to influence the perception of EU values and core principles. We do want to achieve this by developing communication and advocacy strategy, networking, engaging PR expert(s); project activities have media, policy makers and academia outreach. We do believe project activities can bring deeper knowledge on the complexity of the refugee crisis and human rights approach towards refugees to responsible stakeholders, policy makers and media; and that at the end of the project NGOs and migrant communities will feel more empowered and better prepared to communicate the issue to the media and general public and will be more aware in how to proceed in their advocacy and lobby efforts.
Policy goals(s):
- Opening of safe legal routes for asylum seekers and refugees via visa, scholarships or hu-manitarian admissions and family reunification;
- Active participation of Slovakia in resettlement;
- Asylum policy in accordance with EU values and human-rights based approach.
