„Migration to the Centre of Attention“ is a joint project of Multicultural Centre in Prague, Independent Foundation of Journalists from Budapest, Peace Institute in Ljubljana, People in Peril Association in Prague, Institute of Public Affairs from Warsaw and Human Rights League in Bratislava. The goal of this project is to research how union and community law and tools influence migration and integration policies in the Visegrad Group (V4) countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia).
The project also provides space for voices of migrants, compares situation in individual countries, endorse cooperation and exchange of experience among experts and policy makers in these countries. The intention of the project is to spread the consciousness and create capacities needed for participation in the migration and integration policies of European Union.
During the realization we will entail the following topics which we consider crucial in the area of migration and integration:
- Work and residence permit
- Family reunification
- Study/training in European Union
Each topic will be presented on a newly established online platform, the aim of which is to reflect and monitor the issue of migration and integration in the V4 countries and continuously inform about the latest happenings. Each topic will be introduced through an introductory article by an expert from Migration Policy Group, and then two reactions from experts from individual countries and 3 media presentations from migrants related to each topic will follow. There will be a public debate organized with each topic as a part of which we will try to draw the attention to important national aspects and context.
Conclusions from the individual debates, recommendations and suggestions for European policy makers will be presented during international conference in Prague which will be the culmination of the project.
Project target groups:
- Foreigners (migrants) who will be provided an opportunity to actively express and share their experience and opinions which would encourage other foreigners to an active performance
- Civil society will be actively mobilized to participation on policy creation so that migration and integration policies express views of both the host society as well as the migrants
- University students dedicated to migration will get opportunity to exchange experience and views and get further knowledge related to the scope of their interest
- Public authorities will join the discussions with a goal of experience exchange and sharing the up to date information
- Public will gain deeper insight into the process of the EU policy-making and knowledge about the situation of migrants in the V4 countries.
