Legal Aid to Foreign Citizens Placed in the Police Detention Centres

Project aims to provide quality and professional legal assistance to foreigners (third-country nationals) who are detained in the police detention centers of Medveďov and Sečovce based on decision on detention order according to Act no. 48/2002  Coll. on Residence of foreigners amending and supplementing certain acts as amended, with exception of detained asylum seekers. The main goal of the project is to ensure the application of constitutional law of detained foreigners for legal protection and access to defense rights. Legal aid is provided in accordance with the Laws of Slovak republic and within the so-called „Directive on return“.

Project is being implemented by female lawyers of Human Rights League and two cooperating law offices - JUDr. Bohumír Bláha and Škamla, s. r. o. – with long-standing experience in the field. Regular weekly visits in Police detention centers in Medveďov and Sečovce allow for better access of target group to legal assistance.
